Hello everyone, and welcome to my shiny new website! It still needs a lot of TLC, but I'm so excited to finally have my own little spot in the vast lands of the internet that isn't just a Tumblr blog.
For those who don't know me and just happened to stumble upon this page, I'm Kelly. I'm 25 (almost 26!) and currently living in Edmonton, Alberta.
As one of the most indecisive people I know, there aren't a lot of things I'm sure about - but my love for anything handmade is one of them.
Over the past two years, and the last cozy season in particular, I have been learning more about what it means to be part of the handmade community.
It's a lot of work, but like many things that require countless hours of your time, it's rewarding. There's just something about making things with my own hands, and seeing those creations being used in the real world, that tickles my fancy. I mean, how cool is it that there are people walking around in places like Hong Kong, Sweden, Scotland, Russia, Australia, and of course countless places in the U.S. and Canada, wearing my cozy accessories?
In addition to my love for knitting and crocheting, I also enjoy writing. I actually went to school for photojournalism and, since graduating in 2010, have worked at two community newspapers (one in Nova Scotia, the second in Alberta). Although the newspaper industry and I are taking a break at this moment, I miss the daily process that involved writing and photography. I'm hoping this blog will act as some kind of outlet for that while I figure out what the heck I'm doing with my life.
And now, I have prepared a small thank you speech.
Thank you to my mom who taught me how to knit all those years ago, and my dad who constantly reminds me not to give away my work for free.
Thank you to the rest of my family and friends who not only supported and encouraged me with accessory requests and complements while I honed my skills, but became my first customers when knitwear started becoming more than just a hobby.
And of course a big thank you to my boyfriend (or as he likes to call himself, my marketing manager), who has endured more trips to the yarn store than any non-crafting human being should have to. I could not have survived entering into the handmade market scene last fall and winter without him (from dutifully driving me to markets, to keeping a cool head while I fell into crisis mode, to using his keen eye to continuously improve the look of my business) and he has never stopped encouraging me to follow my dreams. I'm thankful to have him by my side as I enter this new chapter of my knitwear journey.
I think that's just about all I have to say for now.
So browse, enjoy, and if you see something on my site that looks completely wonky...please let me know :)
Hello friends, I'm Kelly! I'm a 27-year-old cozy enthusiast who loves creating things with yarn, exploring the beauty of nature, and eating Brooklyn style pizza.
