!As I'm sure many of you have heard or seen by now, Fort McMurray, AB, just seven hours from where I live in Edmonton, has recently suffered one of Canada's most devastating natural disasters. The entire population of 80,000 people were forced to flee a terrifying wildfire last week that eventually destroyed 1,600 homes and raged through about 161,000 hectares.
Through this tragic event however, have emerged too many acts of kindness to count as residents of Alberta and the entire country have come together to help those who lost everything. @ymmauction has been holding auctions on handmade items, with all proceeds going to Red Cross. One of my giant triangle infinity scarves is up for auction now, so even though it's May and you probably don't want to think about winter, I encourage you to go and check out all the goodies and bid on the items that have been donated by the handmade community.
You can also text REDCROSS to 30333 to donate $5 (which will be added to your next phone bill). Every little bit helps!
